David Morgan

David Morgan

David is an experienced work-based learning professional having started through supervising learners in the Construction industry before moving to a work-based learning provider in 1990. With ten years experience in the sector at all levels from direct trainer to Director David ultimately had responsibility for 1500 learners a year for provision ranging from Pre-Vocational Training through to Level III. His experience included a time spent as Regional Training Manger with responsibility for developing assessors and verifiers across a large geographical area.

A qualified assessor, holding D32/33, David has established a reputation for being a straight talking advocate of pragmatic assessment and verification whilst maintaining the rigour and quality demanded by the standards and regulatory requirements. David joined the then Employment NTO in 2000 and was heavily involved in all stages of the revision of the assessment and verification units and has provided technical support in their interpretation and implementation since their approval in December 2001.

David maintains his knowledge through working closely with practitioners, through regular dialogue with Awarding and Regulatory Bodies and through close contact with trainers in the sector. David also continues to deliver seminars on the subject of assessment and verification and is a regular contributor to professional journals and national conferences.

Angela MacKirdy

Angela MacKirdy

Angela MacKirdy formerly worked for ENTO as a Standards Development Officer involving the development and maintenance of National Occupational Standards and associated standards. This also included dealing with enquiries from and providing information and advice to individuals, government and regulatory bodies, awarding bodies and learning providers.

Even though Angela no longer works for ENTO she still has an active interest in The Learning Network and provides a consultancy service to the members of The Learning Network through ENTO by writing articles and dealing with enquiries from members.

Angela is an experienced trainer, assessor and verifier with several years experience of working with NVQ candidates and centres. Prior to joining ENTO she was self-employed, providing training and consultancy services in IT as well as assessing and verifying for a number of organisations in the fields of IT, Administration and Training and Development. She was also an external verifier for Edexcel. She has experience of training blind students in the use of IT at the Royal National College for the Blind and has taught various adult courses in colleges of further education.

Angela graduated from Edinburgh University as a PhD chemist and worked for ICI for 15 years as an analyst and project manager. Her experience with and enthusiasm for work-based training started here in 1990 with a trial of the NVQ for laboratory assistants and analysts.

Michelle Hulme

Michelle Hulme Michelle heads up The Learning Network Sales & Marketing Team, within this role she ensures that members receive regular updates. Michelle aids the smooth running & administration of The Learning Network newsletters and complimentary CPD events which are part of the membership package. Any queries in regards to new addition to The Learning Network package will be dealt with by Michelle.

Peter Bourne

Peter Bourne

Peter has 10 years experience of new media and design. His career started at Rolls-Royce as video producer and new media designer. In this role he developed a number of company-wide websites and multimedia CD-ROMs. He then went on to become a Media Manager at an educational software developer before setting up his own company.

Ariam Media specialise in web design, programming, graphic design and photography. Ariam Media is now part of the People Development UK Group of companies.

Peter's role in The Learning Network started with its very first website. He has worked on every development to the site ever since. These days he ensures that the developers and graphic designers who work for Ariam Media develop the Learning Network website and newsletters to the same exacting standards.
